Jesper Kähr
I was born in Nyköping/ Sweden in April of 1964, and lived in Sweden until the age of seven. In 1971 the family moved to Hörsholm in Denmark where I attended grade 1 to 3 in a Danish public school. In 1974 we moved back to Sweden, and stayed there for a year and a half, at which time we moved to Hamburg, Germany. There I attended the International School, and graduated with an International Baccalaureate Diploma. I enjoyed the school very much - there were 400 students of 50 different nationalities, which taught me much about tolerance and cultural differences.
After graduation from the International School I worked at the Kährs office in Hamburg for a year as marketing-, and sales-assistant, before leaving for Toronto where I spent two years at University of Toronto studying economics, mathematics, languages and politics. I then went back to Sweden to volunteer for military service, which I fulfilled as squadron leader in the National Guard. Between Toronto and the military service I found time to work a few months at the Kährs export office in Philadelphia within sales, marketing and training.
After marketing-studies at the Gothenburg School of Business I seeked employment in the pharmaceutical industry. In 1992 I joined Schering-Plough, where I worked as Product Specialist for three years in different areas of Sweden.
In 1995 I took employment with Organon AB, where I held a number of positions, such as Product Manager, Sales Manager and Business Unit Manager.
In 1998 it was time to move to Bayer Scandinavia where I am presently holding the position as Scandinavian Product Group Manager.
As a person I am ambitious, results-oriented and a team player. I love to win, and I hate to lose. I am easy to co-operate with, flexible and can easily and quickly adapt to new situations. I love to juggle a lot of tasks at once, and I am most effective when there is a fast pace and lots to do.
Between work and family I try to do as much physical activity as possible, preferably golf, tennis or skiing. The family and I also enjoy travelling and being outdoors as much as possible.
Another great interest is Information Technology and computers. Ever since I bought my first computer in 1979 I have been fascinated by this technology and how it has changed the way we work and communicate. I see the computer as a natural ingredient at work and at home. I also believe that the Internet and interactive communication is an integral and increasingly important part of marketing and business. I have had access to the Internet for five years privately, and still use it on a daily basis to communicate and as a source of information. At Organon AB I was in charge of the committee that introduced the company on the Web, and I still dedicate a lot of time to keeping our Bayer site updated and alive.
